Two traditions. One piece of art.
Kurated Kinfolk makes fabric mosaic kits inspired by Kinusaiga, the traditional Japanese art often described as painting with fabric.
There is no sewing. Each piece of cloth is cut to shape and its edges are tucked into fine grooves in a foam board, where they hold firmly in place. Piece by piece, the picture builds until the board disappears and only the fabric remains.
Kinusaiga began as a way to give treasured kimono silk a second life. We bring that same idea to a different textile tradition: African wax fabrics and vibrant island prints. The result is a meeting of two crafts, in one bold piece of art you make yourself.
Every kit comes with everything you need: the patterned board, the fabrics, the tools and a frame. No experience required.
